The \"Competition\" version for the 981 increases the throttle body from the factory 74 mm to 82 mm by using the 997 GT3 throttle body. \u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThe 981 intake is almost identical to the 987.2 intake. Porsche made a few improvements to the 981, the most notable being that the 981 draws outside air from both the driver's and passenger's air intakes instead of from the driver's side only, as was the case on all 986, 987 and 987.2 applications. IPD has developed a silicone hose specifically designed to fit the enlarged throttle body perfectly and considerably improve airflow.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eJust as a dimpled golf ball travels further than a smooth one, the 981 Plenum also benefits from internal dimpling. This internal dimpling controls the boundary layer and maximises airflow. Controlled turbulent air creates less friction and swirls more efficiently along the flow surface.\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003e\u003cbr data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003ePower gains with the 981 Competition Plenum are practically the same as with the 987.2 Competition Plenum, i.e. \u003cstrong\u003e20 horsepower\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003cstrong\u003eand 21nm of torque at the wheels\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMost of the IPD plenum's power gains start at around 4000 rpm, continue up to the redline and are fully realised in the 6000 rpm range.
