ZF8 Transmission Service Kit
ZF8 gearbox oil change kit
Contrary to what the "lifetime fill" marketing claims suggest, the ZF8 gearbox (8HP and its variants) still needs maintenance. ZF itself recommends an oil change every 100,000 to 150,000 km, and much sooner under severe or track use.
Those who push their cars may have noticed the warning signs: jerky downshifts, torque converter slip at low load, an abnormal rise in oil temperature, or shifts that are less crisp than when new. All signs that the gearbox is due for a service.
For normal use we recommend the manufacturer interval, but for track use our recommendation is to shorten the interval (every other season depending on intensity).
As always, we have selected only major, track-proven brands!
Our oil change kit includes:
- Oil pan
- Pre-fitted oil pan gasket
- Strainer
- Bolts
- Filler plug
- 7L of MOTUL ATF VI oil
Kit compatible with all ZF8 variants, except those fitted with metal oil pans.
Team Lupos info:
"The oil change is done the usual way by overflow (fill cold up to the level, bring up to temperature, then adjust), removing the oil pan and cleaning the magnets at the bottom of the pan. On versions fitted with mechatronics, a diagnosis / relearn of the clutch slip points using a manufacturer tool restores the original shift smoothness. There are plenty of well-made tutorials to follow to do your oil change properly and at lower cost!"
