DO88 Intercooler Radiator BMW M140i
The B58 engine shares similarities with the S55 of the F8x M2C/M3/M4: both architectures use a liquid-to-air charge air cooler combined with water radiators located at the front of the vehicle.
These radiators cool the liquid circulating through the air-to-water heat exchanger: the fluid removes heat from the charge air before it enters the engine.
The problem: On tuned B58 engines, the air-to-water system quickly reaches its heat dissipation limit, especially in track use. High intake temperatures lead to power cuts or the ECU going into limp mode. On the most extreme builds, even spirited road driving can trigger the problem
The solution: Limit heat soak with an uprated do88 front heat exchanger radiator, designed to increase the cooling capacity of the system.
Key features:
- Intercooler core 66% larger than the original equipment.
- 48 mm thick dual-row core, increasing cooling surface area by 120%.
- Quad-pass design, routing the liquid through four times instead of two to make optimal use of the core surface.
- All-aluminium construction with TIG-welded end tanks for greater durability.
- Increased fluid capacity for optimised heat dissipation.
Installation No structural modification is required to fit the large do88 performance front heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is supplied with mounting points for the original transmission cooler.
