Millway Rear Thrust Arm Spherical Bearings BMW M3 M4 G80 G82
On cars upgraded for track use there are always small upgrades to make. The point is not to fit spherical bearings everywhere without thinking, because if you use your car for both road and track, it can turn your M into a paint shaker.
This spherical bearing is used strategically, on the thrust arm (see image 2). This arm acts as a tie rod when the rear axle is heavily loaded under throttle, and it influences a secondary function of multi-link suspensions known as anti-squat.
Adding stiffness at this point lets you put the power down more cleanly by removing the original rubber bush, but without going as far as an adjustable arm.
This part, designed and manufactured by Millway in Sweden, provides durability and stable geometry thanks to the Millway team's well-considered choices:
- Lightweight, strong material (clear-anodised 7075-T6 aerospace aluminium )
- Durable motorsport-type spherical bearings
- Compatible with all M3 M4 versions
- Fits on the original arm
Price per pair.
Fitted with a press or with spherical bearing installation sleeves
Team Lupos's view:
We are often asked whether fitting spherical bearings will make the car unbearable to live with. In reality, from the E9X through to the F8x, these cars were designed to run on run-flat tyres, the worst for comfort; switching to normal tyres + spherical bearings is equivalent in terms of ride comfort. But limiting unwanted movement by removing the rubber bushes brings a significant gain... even an essential one when running high-performance slicks or semi-slicks.
