At the end of 2021, despite having a super-sharp M3 E46, Fafa gets in touch and tells me:
"I want something more radical, more extreme, but without stripping out the ///Milf! I want something really angry
-OK, but what's the plan?
-a complete, finished build, not an ongoing, never-ending project, I want to enjoy it as soon as possible"
So the shortlist quickly sorts itself out:
-GT3 over budget
-GT4 takes up the whole budget
-M2 CS same as GT4, and already a collector's item
-M2C too expensive, would mean compromises on the build
-M2A/B + complete build = Approved
the plan is solid, because we're talking Pro5000R front and rear, KW Competition or 3-way, Recaro, half cage, seat delete, 500+, wheels, aero, finish, chassis upgrades etc....
the M2A with the N55 is still a good choice because, while it gains less horsepower than the S55, it's reliable, behaves more easily like a big naturally aspirated engine and delivers its torque in a more "civilised" way (although when you're talking 500+ hp, there's generally 650 Nm of torque behind it...).
One ad catches his eye: the car is already packed with parts, and quite a few choices line up with his own and his tastes:
- TTE550 turbo, 550+ / 700 Nm
- Carbon roof, carbon wing and bonnet
- Akrapovič exhaust
- KW Competition 2-way
- Black Apex wheels
- Half cage
- Big Pro5000R brakes front and rear
- Bucket seats
- Methanol to limit boost pressure and temperature
- Only 39,000 km
- Quality specialists such as Marchal or Digitronic
Deal done, deposit paid, M3 E46 up for sale.... 2 months later, off we go with a nice 500+. He orders the decal pack from the shop to give it some war paint that's striking but understated at the same time (that might change).
