The anti-roll bar drop link is one of those small components that is often forgotten and considered too expensive.

That's because its function is poorly understood:

When the car is sitting on its wheels, slight differences in height cause the anti-roll bar to transmit forces to the lower side. With coilovers you don't want any parasitic forces, so this residual tension needs to be cancelled out.

That's the job of the adjustable drop link! Once corner-weighted, or right after a proper alignment, the length is adjusted so that there is no longer any force anywhere on the anti-roll bar.
