Subframe bushings provide flexibility and absorb noise and vibration, but when it comes to sporty, track-oriented use, this is no longer an advantage.

Modern BMWs such as the M3 E92 GTS, the M2, the M4 and even the M5 F10 Competition have abandoned these compliant parts in favour of solid ones; this is the main difference between the rear axle of an M2 and that of an F2x.

These solid bushings, designed and manufactured by Millway in Sweden, radically eliminate this residual compliance:
