ZF8 gearbox cooler for BMW M G8x series

For the BMW M G series models, BMW opted for the robust, fast-shifting ZF 8HP automatic gearbox, designed to handle the high output of the S58 engine.

The problem:

Improvements in engine performance and chassis grip can completely exceed the capabilities of the original cooling system, particularly during track driving.

When the transmission overheats, the risks are slower gear changes and possible transmission damage. Shifts become slow, limp modes can kick in and these gearboxes take an excessively long time to cool down.

The solution:

To meet this temperature challenge, do88 has developed an improved transmission cooler to help keep temperatures at a proper level and ensure the transmission operates correctly.

DO88 redesigned the transmission cooler core, increasing its volume by 71 % and the cooling surface by 50 % while maintaining similar oil pressures. Along the way, they also increased the system's cooling capacity with a 42 % increase in oil volume.

The do88 cooler uses a dual-pass design, meaning the fluid stays inside longer, ensuring greater heat dissipation.
